auxiliary mine fan

auxiliary mine fan

The auxiliary mine fan—also known as a booster fan—is deployed downstream of main fans to overcome pressure losses in long tunnels, crosscuts, or remote drifts. It ensures that fresh air reaches evolving production faces and development headings.

Designed for mobility and ease of redeployment, these fans feature compact axial or centrifugal impellers, skid-mounted frames, and quick-connect duct flanges. Flow rates range from 5,000 to 50,000 CFM, with static pressures up to 3 kPa to maintain effective local ventilation.

Equipped with IE3/IE4 motors and optional variable frequency drives (VFDs), the auxiliary fan adjusts speed based on real-time measurements of airflow, methane concentration, and temperature, implementing demand-based ventilation that conserves energy and enhances safety.

Durable casings, sealed bearings, and integrated condition monitoring simplify maintenance in harsh underground conditions. The auxiliary mine fan is a critical component for localized air delivery and compliance with mine ventilation standards.
